Inverter faults on the Escape Hybrid often follow coolant problems, and its coolant pump is a known weak point.
Like Toyota's, Ford's early hybrid cools its power electronics with a dedicated loop and electric pump. A failing pump or low coolant raises inverter temperature and brings on the warnings that owners fear most.
What owners notice
A hybrid system warning, reduced power or a car that will not drive at all, sometimes after a long climb or hot day. The fault often arrives suddenly, which makes it feel like a major failure.
What the shops check first
The inverter's cooling loop: coolant level and condition, whether the electric pump actually runs, and whether air or a blockage is starving the inverter. Then the stored codes and the live temperature data, before anyone condemns the inverter itself.
What the repair usually involves
Often a coolant pump and a proper bleed of the loop. When the inverter or converter inside it has failed, the shops replace it as a unit or repair it where a reliable repair exists, and recheck cooling so the new part does not suffer the same fate.
What the shops' records show
The count at the top of this report is every repair order matching this problem across the EV Partners shops, recounted from their Shop-Ware records whenever they sync. Below it, each shop that has done this work shows its own share, the model years it saw and what it did, with a link to its own write-up where one exists.
Questions owners ask
Is this Ford Escape Hybrid problem expensive to fix?
It depends on what the testing finds. Many cases end with a smaller part than owners fear. The shops test before they quote and explain the options and their trade-offs first.
Can I keep driving with this Ford Escape Hybrid problem?
Sometimes, for a short while, but warning lights on a hybrid or EV are worth checking soon. Some faults reduce power or stop the car without much notice, and a few involve high voltage. Call one of the shops and describe what the car is doing.
